Pillowcases can be used as a nice, interesting fabric for sewing. Take what you like and turn it into an exclusive piece of clothing of its kind. For girls, it can become a simple dress with a small ribbon and a minimum of sewing. For adults, turn into a short dress-shirt or a simple skirt (or a skirt sewn in layers). This business can be quick and easy for any seamstress.

Method 1 Plan Your Sewing

  1. 1 Find one or more interesting pillowcases. Look for interesting colors, textures and materials. You can find attractive satin, fabric with lace trim, or prints from the 70s. Vintage lines are especially fun, so search everywhere for home items and used clothing stores.
    • Of course, it will be easier to alter the pillowcase for a very little girl. Everything bright and colorful fits perfectly.
  2. 2 Find out what you need. The amount of fabric will vary from the size of the one for whom you sew the dress. If the dress is for a little girl, make an expense calculation as follows:
    • 6 - 12 months: width - 15 ’’, length - 18–19 ’’, finished product length –14 –15 ’’

18-24 months: width -18 ’’, length 24-31 ’’, finished product length 20-27 ’’

  • Decide what length you want, and then add 3-4’’s for the seam allowance. It should start with the collarbone and go down to the knee.
  • 3 Take your stuff. A pillowcase dress is one of the simplest types of dresses and requires a minimum of sewing. Decide on your creative place, make sure that the place is wide enough for work and coagulation of fabric. You will need:
    • Pillowcase
    • Scissors
    • Ribbon
    • Slanting inlay (optional)
    • The size and length of the pillowcase and ribbon according to the size of the one on whom the dress is sewn
