Windsurfing for beginners

I created this resource not only for those who are interested Dahab as such, but also for those who want to discover windsurfing in Egypt. The perfect combination of wind conditions and windsurfing inspired me to write a series articles about this exciting water sport. Neither as a blogger nor as an organizer do I pretend to be a guru or an expert in these matters. But, During my work at the rental station, I managed to take a closer look at the instructors and now, with full confidence, I can recommend people with whom your windsurfing training will be effective.

Of the mass of instructors working in the Lagoon (surf spot), there are not many comrades working for the interest of the student, not the station. And exactly professional approach - easy and safe. Learn to windsurf is the basis of our cooperation 🙂.

T.O. our primary task we see:

Show what to windsurf except desire, you don’t need to have anything.Any person with any level of physical fitness and age can sail.

And secondly, under the strict guidance of in the shortest possible time bring you to the state of flight of the souls that you experience, gliding along the surface of the water, caught in a stream of wind.

And thirdly, of course, get maximum pleasure from joint rest.

In addition to the fact that, therefore, not very many teachers have been able to work in good conscience, the closure of Egypt by many efficient comrades also forced us to move to other places, which were slightly less comfortable for mastering sailing surfing. In general, you stayed here on an ongoing basis (of those with whom I can trust you) you yes I, yes you and I 🙂, as they say.

Useful to pay attention

If you have to fly thousands of kilometers to practice classical surfing, and then wait for the right weather conditions, then for windsurfing you only need a board with a sail and wind, at least a little. Moreover, if earlier windsurfing was considered entertainment for the elite, as it required serious investments, now anyone can afford to learn how to glide through the water using a sail.

For a beginner, buying expensive equipment to start windsurfing is completely optional. At any water sports base, you can easily rent everything you need. In the store, a sail and a board will cost you no less than 100 thousand rubles (about 70 thousand is a board, another 30 - a board), but for a complete set you will have to take two sails - small for strong winds, large for weak ones. At the sports base, the entire set can be rented for the whole day for only 1,500-2,000 rubles. Hourly rental does not make sense - it is several times more expensive.

The board for the beginner is selected on the principle “the more the better”, because at first the main task is not to maneuver and accelerate, but to simply learn to maintain balance. Choose a board with a length of 3.3 to 3.8 meters and a width of at least 70 cm.

As for the sail, it is better for beginners to choose it by weight - the lighter it will be, the easier it will be to get it out of the water, and you will have to do this often at first. Sails also vary by class. Remember, you need a wave of “wave” class - this is the initial level, suitable for a leisurely walk on the waves. Having mastered the “wave”, you will be free to switch to “slalom” (high-speed sail) or “freestyle” (sail for extreme skiing with jumping and other tricks).

Most likely you simply will not be allowed to ride in swimming trunks or a swimsuit, and you should not neglect the wetsuit, because it will not only protect you from the cold, which is inevitable in the wind in cold water, but also will not allow the sun to burn your skin. In addition, the wetsuit absorbs bumps and drops and thus protects against abrasions and other damage. The main rule when choosing a wetsuit for windsurfing - it does not have to be very tight, this will prevent you from holding the sail.

You can rent a wetsuit for just 300-500 rubles. If you are going to ride often, it is better to buy your own - it is both more convenient and more profitable. A new wetsuit for windsurfing can be bought for 6-8 thousand rubles. Water slippers will cost another 1.5-3 thousand - this accessory is very useful if you have to ride in places with a rocky or muddy bottom.

the instructor

It’s difficult to master windsurfing without an instructor - there are much more nuances here than in the case of classic surfing, and practical help at first is very useful. A lesson with an instructor, as a rule, lasts 2-3 hours and costs about 1.5-2 thousand rubles per hour in a group and 2-3 thousand for an individual training.

Already in the first lesson, you will learn how to glide on water and perform simple turns. The second and third classes will be spent on developing skills and learning more complex turns. Then you can ride without an instructor, unless, of course, you have a goal to learn various jumps and tricks.

As you can see, windsurfing is not the most expensive sport, and certainly will not empty your wallet. So it's time to watch the water sports base nearby, the ski season is close.

Below is a translation of an article by the popular English windsurfing online publication Boards., In which Tris Best, an experienced English windsurfing instructor, gives advice for beginners (by the way, I rode at their club, great guys all :))

The original article is here.

How to make the transition from what you already know and understand the behavior of different types of boards, to ensure that become a real windsurfer?

It's all about technology.

Tris Best He has been windsurfing for 22 years and since 2006 has been the managing center for training in windsurfing and testing of windsurf equipment “the OTC” (Official Test Center), located on the territory of the National Sailing Academy in Portland (UK). He will give some tips to improve your riding technique.

“Windsurfing is a bit like high school. For example, chemistry lessons, after which you come to your first lesson as a high school student, and the teacher says, “Forget everything that you were taught up to this point, we start all over again!”

“The very first things you learn in windsurfing are things that help you understand how the equipment works and give you more confidence when you are on the board. But as soon as your further progress begins, some of the same basic things you really need to do differently. ”

“For example, at the very first windsurfing lesson for beginners, everyone is taught to let go of their back hand so that the sail does not pull them in gusts.”

“But when you have made progress, then you actually want to use this wind power, which in itself contradicts what you were taught up to this point.”

Tris believes that there are several key points that need to be considered when improving the technique of his skiing, such as: thinking, vision and the most useful spending time on the water.

“When you are just starting to learn, you don’t want to have too much traction in the sail. You want to be able to steer a sail so that you can easily ride the board and learn turns, walk higher in the wind and do overstarts, and then “merge” in the wind and make “fords”.

“But, if this instinct of letting go of your back hand during gusts of wind is too firmly entrenched in you, then it will ultimately become an obstacle to your progress in a stronger wind.”

“When you start gliding, then the strength of the wind is just what you need. Therefore, you need to maintain traction in the sail and resist the temptation to loosen the grip with your back hand. But for this you need self-confidence and a willingness to swim a bit. It all comes down to thinking. ”

“You need to have proactive thinking in order to transform from a novice into an advanced windsurfer. "We all had a" catapult "in the water in the first couple, and if you are ready to accept the fact that a" catapult "is inevitable, then you will be less afraid."

“In general, windsurfing is not one of those sports where people get serious injuries. For 22 years of skiing, I only once injured my knee ligaments and got a fracture of my foot, and this is because someone unexpectedly appeared due to the wave, and not from windsurfing itself. Any windsurfer certainly has a whole collection of small cuts and scars, but overall, serious injuries are rare in windsurfing, so be decisive. ”

“Keep calm, strain your back hand and use all the power of the wind in the sail. If the sail is trying to pull you, lean back from the sail and resist it. Fight it. ”

“Your windsurfing experience will change completely when you do this for the first time. And thus you will cross the huge barrier to progress in your sailing. ”

“The premonition and vision of the wind is one of the most important things in further progression, but how can you notice blows if you constantly look at your hands and feet?”

“It is common for beginners to think about the correct positioning of the legs, what hands should do, the position of the body, the direction of movement of the board, etc. But then you cannot see the wind. ”

“Train more in light winds and in non-planing conditions. After a person has already rode a little on windsurfing, there is a general tendency to believe that he is already "too good" for light wind. However, you still need to go skating in a gentle wind, so that you get used to the correct position of your arms and legs so that you will never have to look at them at all. Stop looking at your equipment! ”

(In the photo, the difference in the stances is hips forward, shoulders back!)

“In a weak wind, your body will learn to find the right position and the right stance, therefore, in a stronger wind, you will only need to think about where the wind is coming from and how to use it as much as possible.”

“When the wind increases, the stance can change. But there are good exercises to keep your stance right. ”

“One of these exercises: on a gulfwind course (a course at which the angle between the direction of the wind and the direction of movement of the board is 90 °) lower your front foot into the water and continue to lower it until your knee is in the water. Try to drive as far as possible in this position, while maintaining the wind in the sail and determining where you can take extra traction. You cannot look at your hands at the same time. If you do it well, then keep lowering your leg until your thigh is in the water! ”

“You will only progress if you have a desire to learn. So just go out and ride. It is simply impossible to roll around, and paying attention to the things listed in the first two points, you will get the maximum benefit from your skiing. And your progress will trample very quickly. ”

“The beauty of windsurfing is that you can learn it in a fairly short time, but it takes many years to improve. Even after 22 years, I'm still constantly learning something. And it is exciting. ”

For the first time a person standing on a board and not possessing outstanding abilities, it is recommended to purchase a board of the classic daggerboard type with a length of at least 300 cm, and the most comfortable will be the use of the board 3.3-3.6 m (the stability increases with increasing length). The longer and wider the board and the larger its volume, the easier it will be to learn.

Of the domestic and not very old boards, these are the CCT boards of the Navigator series (in the photo), narrower boards (in the photo they are on the left) are more difficult for beginners and outdated.

Why is it still a daggerboard?

Beginners often ride when they have free time with ANY wind, and more often in a weak than a strong one. Riding in a strong wind, in addition, is limited by their ability to ride.

The question is: if you study on your own, then you can spend the whole season on it and you will progress slowly. If you take training seriously, you will quickly outgrow the curriculum and want more.

It’s like a bicycle - at first a small children's tricycle, then a two-wheeled one with small supporting wheels, which can then be removed. What happens if you buy a board that is too small? There is a chance to discourage the desire to ride due to the fact that nothing will turn out. You can always sell the training board and buy another one. People who study are usually always more than good skiers, so it will not be difficult to sell a blackboard.

What can you get?Everything will depend only on the amount of free money. I want to immediately refute the assertion that in order to join the windsurfing you need a lot of money. I bought my first board (along with a sail, mast and boom) for $ 250. It was a board with a plastic case, a collapsible mast and a sail made of fabric, I could not break or somehow spoil these indestructible components. For example, in the photo of Hi-Fly boards, they are also polyethylene. This is MAX, MAGNUM. They are of different designs depending on the years of production.

The practice of choosing a board for windsurfing.
How to buy (practical tips)

how to make a board yourself
do-it-yourself windsurfing drawings windsurfing 1977
video board manufacturing technology
homemade windsurf board
homemade windsurfing board geometry design software

Why is self-production undesirable? Board assembly - a multicomponent piece (sewn sail, glued board itself, twisted glued mast, bent aluminum boom). If you don’t know how to sew and you don’t have a good sewing machine, don’t sew a sail. Have aluminum boom tubes ever bent in life? Is there a milling and turning machine at home? Do you know how to make a mast? Even the case of the board itself - you read the drawings, DP, a table of place coordinates ... ...? If you are a turner + locksmith + milling machine + sailing master, then I have no questions ... then you are reading this page in vain and more than me in the subject.

Practice shows that for most homemade products, the result is a bunch of spoiled billets, killed time and money, and the construction of a titanic as a result. You have to decide - either you are a homemade person and you like creativity, or you want to ride.

160 hours of time spent = your monthly salary (the author of the blackboard in the photo writes that it took so much time). Plus the cost of materials, plus the cost of tools, equipment, etc.
Isn’t it easier to work more and earn what you want with the money you earned?

And then - how it goes. There will be a desire and an opportunity - buy yourself a good expensive board, or even better two or three. You will have your very old blackboard - for friends and family. By that time, progress will go forward and what is new today (FORMULA WINDSURFING boards) will become less new and more affordable.

Types and characteristics of boards:

On the presented photo of the board of our surfstation (not all).
1. 135L board
2. 165l board
3. Boards 175l
4. Boards 150l
5. 190L board daggerboard

Which of these is suitable for a beginner?
Board 2 is too narrow, 1 and 4 are too small. So, if you have just started to study, you need to take either a sufficiently wide or a dowel board.

On all boards here on the photo, protections are glued to the nose, this is a necessary thing for a beginner who often drops the mast on the nose of the board when riding. Protection is sometimes sold complete with a board, and if it is not, it is ordered in the workshop. Protection is not glued only to the board number 2, which is made of polyethylene.

The ability to enjoy life is an internal state and personality trait, so pleasure does not always depend on the amount of money paid.
Rejoice at what you have and have fun now!
Very many said to themselves “then, when I ……………………., And then it didn’t come ...” or it came so late that you can already do everything, but you don’t want anything anymore or vice versa, you want everything, but you can’t do anything ...........

So, we go to the board. First, let's look in your pocket ... ...

Found What we can What does it look like Advice
up to $ 100"Mustang" - almost no options. The heavy folding case consisting of 3 parts, an aluminum mast, a boom too.

Looks like wreckage ...
If you have a choice, then buy a Mustang with a non-separable body, they say such existed in nature. Pay particular attention to cracks and damage to the casing through which water can enter. They will need to be sealed if you do not want to repeat the fate of the Titanic. Корпус доски весит не 10-15 кг., а в 2 раза больше.
до 200Мистраль древний, Вингляйдер, Вигри, Пагги, Дагестан, Аквата — наверное их.

Архаизмы тоже.

For this money, you will receive a hull (check for cracks and damage), a mast (most likely a non-separable aluminum pipe), a sail (most likely dacron, made of fabric, not film), a boom (most likely without a clip, it is wound on a rope ) Check for the presence of a hinge and fin; if they are not there, then finding similar ones or making them will be difficult or expensive. For example, you buy a new fin for 3000r and a hinge for 2000, then another glue-painting and, as a result, 10,000 for the overhaul of the "cheap" board ...
These things have to go to the museum. You probably don’t watch TV at home in the 80s, and threw a 286 comp and a bicycle from the 80s, why do you need such a thing? And the owners of such boards themselves, if in a good way, they are even shy about asking for money. I met offers to give for free. And why? Recovering is really problematic:

Quote from here
"one. I don't have enough hinge. I'm trying to do it based on the analysis of the step, but something does not work out well. Maybe tell me where you can find or look or find photos or drawings of the hinge for this board? You can, of course, put the step under a modern hinge, but for now I want to restore it as it was.

2. The plastic in the stern was rubbed on top at the ribs. What kind of material is this case? Can I just close up with an epoxy? And how is it better to pour out water in a garage?

3. The case (.) Is slightly swollen, I want to somehow squeeze a vacuum before repairing scuffs. I don’t think how. Can it just cut - smear - stick it over?

4. Fastening a boom without a mate with ropes. ”

It seems that the author bought something similar to the photo on the left, full of holes and repeatedly sealed.

300-500For example, HiFly or another mass board
for example here
You can already get a board with an almost eternal case, which is made of polyethylene. You can not be afraid to damage it if mismanaged. You can also expect to receive a collapsible mast and sail from a film, even Russian-made, for this money.
400-700For example, Navigator, CCT firms are quite common on sale. Read more about CCT boardsI think that there will not be any special problems with them. As usual - check for damage to the case, as well as the general ability to assemble the kit from the individual components sold to you. Compare the mass of the board with the original.
Congratulate yourself and fly away to the warm sea ……….Windsurfing is a rapidly progressing infectious disease ... ..
Write to your homeland ....... :), remember about the birds from the television ........

Choose equipment

Choosing a board for the lesson you need to take into account the freerider complexion. So, for a man of average build, a 150-liter board is suitable, which can provide good glide along the water surface and stability on the waves, and a sail of 6.7 meters. For a teenage child, a 110-liter board and a three-meter sail are suitable. In general, the selection of equipment must be carried out individually, based on the advice of a sales consultant who will recommend you the most suitable options for you. You will also need to purchase wetsuits and water slippers, and for hot weather - nylon caps, breeches, and long-sleeved T-shirts.

Almost any sport based on exposure to the elements involves a combination of a number of circumstances favoring their occupation. In the case of windsurfing, in addition to your desire, good winds are necessary, which, as you know, will not adapt to your vacation schedule.

Of the many spots in the world, Dahab is distinguished by the number of wind days in a year.

95%, this is the best suited for people who are not accustomed to "relax" with their pleasure: if you plan to learn, or ride, then this must be done.

It is the wind conditions of this small town that will allow you to fully enjoy surfing in Dahab at the wind farm “Vetratoriya”.

Why Dahab is an ideal place to start training:

  1. The wind always blows in one direction - it does not “twist”, which means that you can focus all your attention on technology.
  2. The absence of a coastal wave does not “drop” you from the board, trying to stand on it.
  3. Smooth water in the depths - the waves of the sea do not interfere with your work on the technique of walking, it is also more pleasant to gain speed on such water.
  4. Flat wind.
  5. It is warm and blowing year-round, unlike many other spots in Egypt, Europe and Russia.
  6. Training takes place in the Laguna zone, fenced from the sea by a scythe - it is safe.
  7. Perfectly clear turquoise water, which is pleasant to fall into.

The ideal spot for those who are advanced in windsurfing:

  1. The Dahab windsurfing station is equipped with the latest equipment for this sport.
  2. There are four zones on the spot, which imply a different level of riding riders and serve to perform different tasks. In the dry end: no one, no one bothers to achieve your goals. Laguna - a zone inside the Lagoon, protected from big waves and strong winds - an ideal place to learn windsurfing from scratch. Speedy zone - a high-speed zone for experienced riders, with leeward the side of the spit. Baby Bay - strong winds and smooth water are here - an ideal place to practice Freestyle elements. Kamikadze - waves.
  3. Spot security is another important component. Skiers are constantly under the close supervision of rescuers and, in case of an unforeseen situation on the water, are delivered by shore to a motor boat.

In addition to the ideal conditions for the development of windsurfing, Dahab is also an amazing place that differs from the noisy and crowded Sharm El Sheikh in its simplicity, permissiveness and, I would say, chamberness ... This gives it a certain charm ... To penetrate and feel that we can even free from the gurney in the evenings .

Useful Tips for Beginners

First, decide whether you will study on your own or hire a coach who will tell you how to take the first steps in this sport. If you stop at the first option, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with our recommendations that will help you quickly get used to a new occupation.

If you decide to go windsurfing, the first thing you need to pay attention to is the place for training. We recommend that you first go to a small bay or lake, because after numerous falls it will be much easier for you to get back on the board if there is not too much depth at the training site.

Before departure check the weather forecast. The weather should be windy for your workouts. Ideally, the wind will blow either from the shore or to the shore, because in this case it will be easier for you to move along the coastal edge. The speed of a meter of 3-5 m / s is considered to be the most suitable for learning windsurfing, which, as a rule, almost does not give a wave, but at the same time gives an interesting speed of movement, perfectly supports the sail and you have to spend a minimum of effort for skiing. A lower wind speed (1-2 m / s) complicates the training in that it will be more difficult for you to hold the sail, however, training at this speed is possible. Higher speed complicates learning, as the board will constantly strive to stand against the wind, and the waves will interfere with you, keep your balance.

Seryozha, as an instructor, is based at the Vettoria windsurfing rental station. The cost of training windsurfing at the station:

Safe Skating Technique

Before you start windsurfing lessons, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the main tips that will allow you to conduct your workouts without any unpleasant consequences:

  • Safe skiing begins with competent preparation of equipment.
  • When rising to the board, do not hold on to the bottom of the mast, as a strong wave, pushing the mast to the edge of the board, can leave you fingerless. You need to hold on to the front loop and the start of the sheet.
  • Before sailing, it is necessary to raise the sail by starting with a sheet, only with the effort of the legs and always with a straight back.
  • If you fall, hold the boom tightly with your hands, so you will save your ribs and head.
  • Make sure that during training you are not far from the coast. If this happens, put the mast aft, lie on the board and row your hands towards the shore.

Start from the board, control and turns

To start, you need to deploy the board sideways to the wind, and sail in the wind at 90 about in relation to the board. The front leg is under the mast, the second is on the lumpy side of the board, the knees are bent, the start sheet is in both hands. We begin to straighten our knees and completely raise the sail. Hands and back should be straight, knees should be slightly bent.

Managing the boom, deploy the sail. The sail is filled with the wind, and we throw the hand, which is closer to the bow, a little closer to the mast at the boom, while the stern arm leaves the mast. The mast should be tilted 5-10 degrees forward. Note that when moving, the wind should blow in your back.

To change the direction of movement you need to tilt the mast in different directions (downwind and against the direction of the wind).

U-turns are carried out either by turning against the wind, when the sail sinks into the stern, and you go to the other side of the board through the bow. You can also turn around in another way, when the sail sinks into the bow, and you go stern to the other side of the board.

Windsurfing for beginners - This is, first of all, a theory, without which no instructor will let you into the water. That is why we suggest you familiarize yourself with the basic knowledge of windsurfing.

Primarily, windsurf training impossible without knowledge of the materiel. And this is logical, because in order to learn how to swim, you need to know what to swim on and what to do about it. What is a sail, mast, board, and where it has a bow and stern is hardly worth explaining. Immediately move on to more complex concepts:

  1. Daggerboard - a large fin, located in the middle of the board. Only available on whiteboards.
  2. Fin - a small fin, located aft.
  3. Hinges - fix the legs during movement, but are not always used.
  4. Geek - the device with which the sail is held.
  5. Clew angle - the side opposite to that which is attached to the mast.
  6. Trapezoid - a belt with a hook, with the help of which the sail is held.
  7. Trapeze Shhotiki - hinges at both ends of the boom to which the trapezoid is attached.
  8. Hinge - with it, the sail is fixed on the board.
  9. Start sheet - the rope used to pull the sail.
  10. Shtotik - the rope with which the sail is adjusted.

Windsurf training can't start without the right equipment. If you are a beginner, then you will need:

wetsuit with long legs

hydro gloves with long fingers

water slippers (for places with sharp corals),

- mentioned earlier trapeze.

Basic rules for teaching windsurfing

Learn windsurfing it will be much nicer if you remember a few basic rules:

Firstly, the wind should always blow you in the back. If you decide to change the direction of the board, you must go to its other side.

Secondly, it must be borne in mind that you will always be a little blown away by the wind. That is why, in order to get to the desired point, you need to focus on the point that is located upstream.

Thirdly, correctly assess the wind. Do not be afraid to consult with more experienced surfers or boat station employees. The same goes for your hardware settings. First, let someone experienced teach you how to do it. Before entering the water, always check whether the fin, hinge, boom, start-sheet are firmly fixed.

Try not to let the geek out of your hands, but if this still happened - take care of your head! Other parts of the body will protect the wetsuit from possible damage.

For beginner windsurfers it’s better not to sail far from the coast, especially alone. Stay in range of rescuers.

So, when the basic rules are known to you. But before you go out to the water, we offer you an informative video about windsurfing for beginners.

Before starting to learn windsurfing, it will be useful for each beginner to get some important tips that will help greatly facilitate the process of mastering all the wisdom of this sport. Beginning windsurfers try to use all the training methods available to them, but a few specific tips will provide a good start to someone who has decided to become a windsurfer.

Training and progress

As with teaching any sport, windsurfing classes should be designed so that they can simultaneously be fun and provide steady progress in the athlete’s skills. As elsewhere, there is a quick and slow way to learn, the right and wrong way to improve training.

So, 5 Top Tips for a Beginning Windsurfer

1. Do not learn from a friend or loved one

If a friend or loved one tries to teach windsurfing, it never leads to anything good. Usually in such cases, the equipment is either too outdated or too advanced for the beginner, and even if the “teachers” know their job well, they don’t necessarily know how to learn it. A good windsurfer will not necessarily be a good teacher, so learning from a friend of yours often ends in disappointment on both sides.

2. Take training courses for beginners

This is the most important condition in order to be able to improve mastery and enjoy learning. The choice of courses must be taken with great responsibility, since there are a great many offers, and they are all very different from each other. Learn better on calm water.

When it comes to choosing specific courses of study, it makes sense to consider only two possible options:

  • Complete Windsurfer Training for Beginners
  • Trial lesson in windsurfing for beginners. This lesson will give you an idea of the basics of windsurfing and try to stand on the board yourself. If such a lesson is pleasant for a beginner, he will be able to go directly to the second part of the full course of study in order to master the entire set of skills necessary for moving to the next stage.

3. To consolidate the acquired skills, training on their own

A properly organized trial windsurfing lesson for beginners theoretically gives them all the necessary minimum knowledge and skills, however, in addition, you still need to rent windsurfing equipment and spend some time practicing on your own. It makes no sense to spend money on further training and try to achieve a higher level of skill if the athlete did not spend at least 10 or even 20 hours on the water, practicing what he was taught during the lesson for beginners. This is known to the specialists of every good windsurfing school and to every instructor who will in every way encourage the independent training of athletes, instead of encouraging them to move to the next stage of training as soon as possible.

It is important to choose the most modern windsurfing equipment currently available. New equipment has a very significant impact on the speed of training: modern boards and sails, masts and booms provide the most stable pace of improving the level of training.

4. Take mastery courses

At the end of the basic training course, the windsurfer needs to decide whether he is ready to proceed to the next stage. The easiest way to find out is the question that the surfer must ask himself: “Can I confidently sail from one point on the water surface to another?” This simple test will allow you to check whether the athlete is able to correctly determine the direction of the wind, and also maintain stability and controllability of a board and all elements of equipment. As soon as you manage to go a certain distance on the board from a certain point and return back, you can go on to master new skills and stop practicing skating around one point.

Learning at a more advanced level is best done in stages. To increase the speed of making turns downwind and downwind, learn how to start from the shore and handle leg mounts, and also hone the technique of gliding - for all this you will have to master various skill groups.
